AGROMETEOROLOGICAL MOSAIC FOR YOUTH: "Little school about forest fires"

Very successful cooperation with the City of Dubrovnik was continued in 2016. In the previous three projects, we got in the tender of City of Dubrovnik in 2014 and 2015. We have already covered a variety of groups of adults to students, high school students and higher grades pupils of primary school. The next step is to include the youngest school children up to 10 years. That's why we came up with the idea to initiate "Little school about forest fires". In order to start the lecture in more accessible way to the children, we have created a short animated film on this subject.

The animated film is the most popular medium of today's children and it is our backbone around which a conversation with children is lead throughout the questions. Our wish is that pupils are active participants in the class. They can also ask questions to lecturers. But the most important is that they get full and clear information about what interests them about forest fires. Lectures last for a school hour, and the lecturers are experts in the protection of forests against fire and members of HAgMD. We proposed two projects of which the first is production of a short animated film "The fire is not a joke" and the other "Little school of forest fires". They are interconnected. Certainly we intend to use the experience from these projects to improve Little school in order to cover as many schoolchildren along the Adriatic coast and islands, but also in the whole of Croatia. Fires know no borders of cities nor counties so it is necessary to educate the youngest school children at the time.
