And little children know that fire is no joke!
As part of the project “Agrometeorological Mosaic for Youths” in Dubrovnik, on November 5 and 6, 2018, four workshops were held, presenting a short animated film "Fire is no joke". About 65 children from several groups aged from 4 to 7 attended two workshops in the Palčica kindergarten and 115 children in the Ciciban kindergarten.
Workshops were held in cooperation with the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Natural Areas of Dubrovnik-Neretva County, and were held by Vesna Đuričić and Ivan Konjevod. Through of the animated film and the conversation, the children pointed to the forest fire dangers, the consequences they leave and the ways of handling during and after the fire.
It is interesting how much the smallest children in the coastal area know about the causes of the fires and how they behave when it occurs. Many of them had the need to say that their parents or cousins are members of the fire brigade, and some children, unfortunately, have witness wildfires. Everyone already knew or remembered the number of fire brigades after the workshop. Throughout the educational game children are given educational picture and coloring books, and puzzles with the motives of wildfires in which natural habitats disappear and live in them. So, everyone went home with some gift and well-remembered cartoon motto: Do not play with flame and smoke, fire is no joke.
