Bingo in Požega

On St. Gregory’s day, March 12, 2018, to commemorate the 330th anniversary of the victory over the Turks, the city of Požega met us in the festive attire. In the Elementary school of Julius Kempf we were welcomed by the kindly Director of Kornelija Sabljak. Everything was impeccably prepared for two Little School "Fire is no joke" for lower grade students. In the first younger group there were 72 students and in the older 53 students. The lectures were attended by teachers and members of the Croatian Agrometeorological Society an agronomist Darko Šajnović from Požega and a meteorologist Marko Vučetić.

Before the lecture the numbers were given to students for a surprise at the end, which they eagerly awaited. They watched the animated film very carefully and they liked it very much. We also received the praise from the director for a well-conceived story and animation. In conversation with the children, we found, they are familiar with the profession of meteorologist through TV weather forecasts, but they were still surprised that the meteorologists also study the forest fires. They have been well aware of the weather conditions suitable for forest fires. But in our query: "Who gave a fire risk warning in the movie?" They replied: "Vakula!" (He is a famous Croatian TV weather forecaster.) The answer was wrong, but it shows power of media.

As the conversation came to an end, one student asked, "When will be bingo?" She had to wait a little bit because others were interested in looking the film again. Their wish was fulfilled, and at the end of the prize game three numbers were drawn for each group and the lucky winners won the children's comic strip "Fire no joke" and the mouse pad with the motto "Do not play with flame and smoke because fire is no joke." We delivered to director an acknowledgement, and the teachers got a mouse pad and five copies of the children's comics for each class.

At the end of the lecture, three students from the first group approached us and said that they liked the movie, but they were sorry they did not get a comic book. We solved this problem immediately by fulfilling their desire.
